Friend With No Benefits

I sigh o’er my loss
My loser attitude is good
Her telling me we can’t be
Not now, not ever
Where did she get that?

She’s my best friend
A friend indeed
This friend of mine
From a land far away
Just walked out on me.

I don’t blame her
It’s the body politics
Mistakes privileges for rights
Mercies for love
And kindness for weakness.

In a dark night
From the skies above
she sought the sign
The slightest hint
I gonna propose her dread
Assumed so much
At sunrise she left.

I just wonder
Why is it that
Love declared breeds contempt
Outbursts to break friendships
Friends turn them fiends
And bid them farewell!
