Domicile

I am a foreigner in this land of blacks
That I’ve lived and trekked all tracks
For days till I’s bare foot with cracks.

I am a missionary from Europe
Send to bring good news and hope
To a land of paganism to stop.

I was young when I came to Africa
With dad David and mom Rebecca
White complex replaced as in Eureka.

My father embarked on his mission
To fulfil his mother church’s vision
They called it the ‘Mathew’s Commission.’

He dragged me to primitive villages
Made me greet barbaric man images
Went around preaching gospel pillages.

I am a foreigner in this land of blacks
That I’ve lived and trekked all tracks
Come to bring hope where it lacks.

I’s not meant to be a missionary of Europe
Not to tramp around the uncivilized Africa
I’s meant to be a mercenary of hope.

Father died of some tropical disease
That day I rejoiced I’s at peace
Mama cried a river her sorrow to appease.

I am foreigner from Europe
I am a mercenary of hope
In Africa I found home.

In Africa I own extensive tracks
Foreigner in a land of blacks
They bicker, I never back.

I’ve now forgotten Europe
I live in Africa I brought hope
Uncivilization I brought to stop.

No other home I’ve lived
No other home I’ve saved
Shall live till I’m graved.
