She took the umbrella
That I never use
Moved gracefully
Like Rihanna in the song
Sang Rihanna’s lyrics
Making the moves
Rihanna’s rehearsed drill
Told me I can stay under her umbrella
Wanted me to be Jay-Z
Rap like in the Umbrella
And when I didn’t
She called me bastard
SOB – all the names in the book
Said I’m complicated
My love’s so complicated
She won’t stick till the end
I can’t stay more
Under her Umbrella.

The last time I saw Maimun words poured out of me like water squeezed from a sponge. She covered my mouth with hers as if to swallow a terrible curse that would come back to afflict us. “Forget us, forget me,” she said.
