Can I take You Home

I met her at her home
The only place I wouldn't have gone
Were it not to deliver mail;
Not striking model beautiful
But intelligent wit' inner beauty
I smiled, but didn't smile back
One step at a time, I knew she would
Come to me, and I do my thing
Then let her go, back to her life,
But then when she came
Her charm I couldn't overcome
Felt myself falling in love
My eyes from her couldn't tear;
Can I take you home tonight?
She smiled because she knew
I'll tell you all of my wicked past
She smiled, again, because she knew
The past is no problem at all
It's the present that has lapses of truth.
